While Reddy and Brophy had quite a comfortable lead going into the third and final stage, second placed Tom Murphy and John Crowley held an advantage of only one second over Terence Teggert and Bob Kelly. This particular battle was decided when Teggert and Kelly clipped a stone and burst a tyre, losing five minutes as a result. Ollie O'Reilly and Arthur Kierans had earlier been forced to retire from second place after hitting the same stone.

Eamonn Murphy and Noel Coady thus claimed third place, while Michael Curran and Brian Sheridan grabbed fourth on the final run.

REDDY OPENS THE SCORE ON GERMAINE'S SINGLE STAGE
Michael Reddy and John Brophy have opened up a clear lead on the Germaine's of Baltinglass Restricted Single Stage Rally 2003, after the first of three runs through the Spinnan's Hill stage. They completed the stage in nine minutes, fifteen seconds, over half a minute quicker than their nearest rivals.

The chasing pack is led by Ollie O'Reilly and Arthur Kierans, who have just one second to spare over Tom Murphy and John Crowley, with Terence Teggart and Bob Kelly a further second behind.

No other crew got under the ten minute mark on the first run. The cars are currently in service in Baltingalss, and second run gets underway at 1340.

The Germaine's of Baltinglass Restricted Single Stage Rally is organised and promoted by the Garda Siochana Motor Club.
