The rally will start from Walsh’s Hotel, Maghera at 10am on Saturday 24th May, and with a quality field entered for what is the 1st gravel round of the 2003 N.I. Rally Championship, a good days sport is in store.
The event is lead away by three times winner Trevor Moore, Escort WRC, with recent Killarney International winner Eugene Donnelly at no. 2 with club president and former event COC Paddy Toner reading the notes in their Toyota Celica closely followed by Denis Biggerstaff in his Metro 6R4.
Event sponsor Kieran Shaw is at 7, with Richard Hogg the 1st Group N car at 8.
Once again the event is included in the Magherafelt & District May Festival programme of events, and as such MADMC have in association with Walsh’s |Hotel are running a number of events to coincide with the rally.
On Thursday 22nd on Maghera main street a wheelbarrow race is being run to raise money for the clubs’ nominated charities for 2003, Kilronan School, Magherafelt, School Aid Romania and Mencap N.I. With almost 30 teams entered, this promises to be an evenings craic, all in the name of good causes.
Friday 23rd is event scrutiny in Cunninghams Garage, Maghera from 7pm, with an event awareness evening and rally show in Walshs’. Admission is free, and all those that attend having the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes by participating in a competition that will run throughout the course of the evening.
