Newry and District Motor Club will run a new event for the first time on Saturday 16th November 2002. The "Hill Engineering Gullion Stages Rally", as it is to be know, is expected to become a regular event in the club's yearly calendar.

It is organised in the hope to help encourage novice drivers, co-drivers and officials into the sport. For this reason it was decided to run the event to similar regulations as the Northern Ireland beginner's Rally Championship. These being that cars entered, will be normally aspirated and 2 wheel drive only. However as well as encouraging novice crews into rallying N&DMC are using this opportunity to train less experienced club members as officials, under the watchful eye of more skilled club officials.

The rally will be centred around Newry, in the similar surroundings to those of the popular ME Crowe Northern Ireland and Four Season Border Rally Championships. The stages will be based, as the title suggests, around the Slieve Gullion stages of the Formula Karting Mourne Rally, offering a 100% pothole free Tarmac Rally of 30 miles in total and will consist of 2 stages run 4 times each. Headquarters for the event will be the Mourne Country Hotel in Newry.

The club are proud to announce that Hill Engineering have generously stepped in to become the first sponsors of what will undoubtedly become a very popular event in the calendar.

Regulations and entry forms are now available, and be downloaded from the club's new website on www.nadmc.co.uk
or can be ordered from the secretary of the event by telephone on +44 7817770562. If ringing the secretary, please be advised that it may not always be switched on, so keep trying if you can't get through at first.
