Challenging conditions greeted the 50 competitors early Sunday morning for the Drogheda Hire NEMC Loose Surface Autocrss in Murphy's quarry Gormanstown. Quickest of the line for the wet first run was Monaghan man Maurice Moffett in his hybird 6r4 powered Ford Escort, closely persued by Dan O'Donohue in his Metro 6R4 and James Foley in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6

The second run saw the track in pristine condition after some remedial work by club members and with the rain stopping, the second run saw some great battles throughout the field, the best of which was in Class 2 1600CC 2 wheel drive vehicles, with NEMC Club member James Cassidy from Kells in his new Renault Megane Coupe and 16 year old Naas Native Mark Kinirons in his first ever competitive event in a Corsa, the battle at the top was developing but after some penalties Dan O Donohue in his metro 6R4 lost any realistic chance of overall honours.
The third run with clear blue skies overhead saw Moffet maintain his lead, but Ollie Mc Cormack in his Nova making a late surge to take second place with third going to James Foley in his Lancer Evo VI.Overall winner: Robert Moffett (Escort-Metro) 4m 26.9s.
