Thousands of fans packed the house in Derry, to watch a ‘thriller’ of a rally emerge in the tight confines of the St Columb’s Park. The Heaney Homes event, drew spectators such as Irish Tarmac expert, Andrew Nesbitt who joined with the many fans from around the country, and watch in amazement, as some of the best driver’s manoeuvred their machinery at the limit, and give the large supporting crowd something to remember for a long time in the North-West.

In a thrilling finale to-day with the top prize of £1000 going to Dromara driver Denis Biggerstaff in the Metro 6R4, closely pipping John McKeown to the post, against the clock.

Many drivers had problems from early in the morning, with broken clutches, diffs, and driveshafts. Many repaired, such a Biggerstaff to have a go at the shoot out prize of £1000, other failed such as Glen Allen in his Escort. Watch out for the Lark in the Park on ‘RPM’ TV later this summer – a real ‘Lark’ in the Park.
