James Cribbin from Mullingar on his first outing in his newly acquired
Mitubishi Lancer EVO V was the surprise winner of Cork MC's rallysprint @
Rosegreen Co. Tipperary. Co-driven by Paula Nooney, his time on the
second run was enough to beat the local favourite Frank Meagher.

On a glorious day more akin to Cyprus than the Tipperary country side, it was Frank Meagher and co-driver Damion Brown who set the pace on the first run with a time of 3:01.78 with the Ex McRae Ford Focus World Rally Car. With Kenny McKinstry not able to make the event, it was Cork crew of Barry Coleman and Greg McCarthy who ran on the course with Meagher. Running at 45 Mike Quinn and Tommy O'Sullivan put in a blistering run in the Talknology sponsored 2 litre Escort to lie second, just under 4 seconds from Frank Meagher. Cribbin was 2 tenths of second behind in third, follow by the spectator Rallycross Cars of Des Ryan and David Aiken. David James had his newly built immaculate Mk II escort on equal time with Aiken. On a day that suited the Front wheel drive machinery, Gus Kearney put the 106 in sixth.
To keep the dust down the track was watered after the first run and, Meagher running first on the track was unable to better his time. Soon the times started to come down, first James Murphy running at No 7 broke the third minute barrier with a time of 2:57.46, which won the fastest time of the day award. Then Eddie Kinirors in his Ex-Tomas Radstorm Celica GT-Four on a rerun after getting being held on his second run clocked a 2:57.49. It was then Cribbin set his fastest time of the day to move a few hundreds of a second ahead of Meagher.
Mike Quinn put in the fastest 2WD time of the day to gain 4th place overall, this was dispite the best efforts of Pete Willoughby/Greg Shinnors put on one of the most spectatular in-field displays.
Forestry rallying regular Michael Moore won Class one from Joe Shinnors. Rallycross regular Dave Aiken won class 2 from Gus Kearney, Mike Quinn won Class 3 from the Front wheel Drive Astra of Tom Sheehan/Anthony Jordan. Event Co-Sponsor Donal O'Brien won class 4, Eddie Kirnorns Class 5. Connie Ward brought his Mini home first Historic and 29th overall.O/A No Driver/Co-Driver Car Time 1 31 James Cribbin/Paula Nooney Evo 5 06:03.3 2 2 Frank Meagher/Damion Brown Focus WRC 06:03.7 3 7 James Murphy/John Barry Sierra 06:05.6 4 45 Mike Quinn/Tommy O'Sullivan Escort 06:07.6 5 6 Eddie Kinirons/Tom Kinirons Celica GT4 06:08.3 6 5 Pat Norris/Karen Norris Evo 3 06:09.6 7 8 David Aiken/ Nova 06:11.3 8 42 Gus Kearney/Martin Brady 106 06:12.8 9 30 Tom Sheehan/Anthony Jordan Astra 06:13.1 10 19 Des Ryan/ Nova 06:15.2
