The recent Monaghan Stages Rally saw three Mayo crews successfully master one of the toughest events on the National Motorsport Calendar and with some success too! Posted: November 30, 1999 12:00 AM
Ballina Motor Club’s James McGreal and Chris Mitchell found themselves back up on the pace after a long lay-off as their newly acquired Nissan Sunny GTi-R won Class 14b. The Foxford/Enniscrone combination now lead their category in the Four Seasons Hotel Border Championship as do Kiltimagh brothers Paul & Brian Cleary (Nissan Micra 1300 GX) thanks to their second place in Class 5 over the 9 Special Stages held north of Monaghan town. In the ultra competitive Class 14b Sean McHugh (Bekan Cross) with Des Kelly (Ballygar) Navigator continued their good finishing record with 9th position in Class with their Peugeot 205 GTi. The next round of the Border Championship in Cavan on May 30th will see more action from Ballina Motor Club as the rally season goes into overdrive!
