14/11/07 Stone Mad motorsport take on the R.A.C Brian Lawlor and Peter Kavanagh are taking on the challenge of the 3 day Roger Albert Clark rally this week-end 16th-19th Nov,The rally starts in Leeds on Saturday morning and takes in all the infamous classic RAC stages of old,including the Kielder forest complex as the sting in the tale on monday. This rally is run in the traditional sense in every way,incorporating 7 night stages and all 28 stages run with out the help of pacenotes, Brian and Peter have wanted to do the rally since it started in 2004 and now with the backing of "the coachhouse.ie" they will get the opportunity to compete in this grueling event, Brian says "I watched the likes of vatanen, brooks and Billy Coleman growing up and thought that i would never get the chance to do a rally like this,so when the RAC started i said yes i have to do it , Brian is putting the finishing touches to his 2.0 16v mk 2 escort this week and has entered the open class in the rally,they leave for the UK next friday morning and hopefully it will be a fruitful event for the Stonemad motorsport team. The 2007 event sees the longest route to date with over 191 competitive miles with all bar one mile on loose. Colin Heppenstall Rally Manager said "This years route is the most compact yet, and should offer both the competitors and spectators great value". He went on to say "The layout of the stages will give the spectators a great opportunity of seeing the crews at least 4 times on the opening two days" The introduction of more night stages will give the competitors a challenge and spectators a sight that is not normally seem in British Rallying in the modern era.
