The CIT Engine Development group, in association with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers will be holding a presentation to be delivered by Alan Warburton titled “Race engines, electronics and the three-legged horse”

It will be held in Room IT3 in the library building of The Cork Institute of Technology on Thursday 22nd March at 7:00pm.

Alan Warburton has been involved in motorsport for over 25 years. He manufacturers the highly successful DTA brand of engine management electronics. His experience covers all areas of engine design, building and optimisation. His knowledge is regularly put to good use when he competes in his hillclimb V6 Cosworth powered Dallara.

The talk, which is aimed at all levels of motorsport enthusiast, will aim to debunk some myths surrounding engine torque and horsepower, and the existence of the “three-legged horse”!. He will explain methods of optimising engine output and how modern electronics can assist. Launch and traction control will also be discussed. There will be a Q&A session followed by light refreshments. For those interested a car will be tested on the college rolling-road.
