30/03/06 THE LONDON IRISH MOTOR CLUB A group of London based Irish motorsport enthusiasts have come together to form The London Irish Motor Club. The large Irish population has been well served in the past with clubs and societies dedicated to all sporting activities but this is the very first Irish club for motorsport enthusiasts. The club has been meeting for the last number of weeks and is keen to attract new members. At a previous meeting it was decided to apply for recognition from the Motorsport Association and a com mittee was formed. Over thirty enthusiasts attended and they elected well-known rally driver Ollie O’Donovan as their inaugural Club President. Killarney man Mickey Smith, who has been involved with other motor clubs for many years is the new clubs chairman. Paul McDevitt (Donegal) was appointed membership secretary. A formal application has been submitted to the Motor Sport Association and it is expected to be officially recognised by early April.
Open Meeting An open public meeting will take place on Monday April 24th at Tir Chonaill Gaels Football Club, Greenford, Middlesex UB6 ONZ. The success of club depends largely on the membership – so if you think you have something to offer the club, make your way to Tir Chonail Gaels on the 24th
