It was a typically low number of entries for the January event with only 35 competitors braving the bitter conditions, the track only really yielding any grip in the closing stages of the third timed run.

On the first run Joseph Smith was almost 3 seconds faster than the Toyota Starlet of Shane McGirr with the Ford Escort G4 of Mervyn Wedlock just 0.2seconds back recording third fastest. On the second run the spectators were treated to a driving display when Mervyn Wedlock and Ollie O’Rielly went head to head in largely similar cars but it was Ollie who got the better of the two by 0.36 seconds whilst Joseph Smith slotted into third fastest to maintain his overall lead. It was on the third run that Joseph Smith found the grip that brought him the fastest time of the day and cemented the result, Mervyn Wedlock made a gallant to win but had to settle for second overall while 2005 Junior Champion Daniel McKenna was third fastest on the third run to finish sixth overall.

Among the classes Gerard Greene shared his car with Micky Conlon after Mickey’s Mini suffered clutch failure before the start but came out the victor by 9 seconds. Shane McGirr coupled fastest class times on runs two and three to win Class 2 from Daniel McKenna and Seamus Cooke. Willie Woods brought his Civic home ahead of the similar car of Colm Fitzpatrick in Class 3 while the Corolla of Martin Nicholl was third in class. With Joseph coming out of the class due to his overall win, Arthur Kierans won class 4 with a healthy 5 second margin, 2005 championship class winner Gerard McArdle second in class and newcomer Conor Lee third in class. Mervyn Wedlock’s relentless chase for the top spot did yield him a class win in class 5 while Ollie O’Rielly won out on a tiebreak for second place in class 5 with Sam Moffett.
