BTRDA Silver Star Rally Championship.

James Belton and Eurig Evans have won the BTRDA Silver Star Series overall with two rounds to go. The crew from Haverford West in Wales had clocked up a record 6 wins from 6 starts in their Mountune engined Mark 2 Escort.

The championship consists of 10 rounds with Belton starting 6 winning 6, dropped 2 mid-season and wrapped it up with 2 to go. Along with winning the championship overall, they akso collected the fastest 2 wheel drive prize and Class B12. The Duratec 2.3 engine is developed by the Essex firm who have built winning engines for the Ford World Rally team, Hyundai amongst other manufacturers such as Skoda.

With 150 championships won in both racing and rallying, from World Rally Championship Rounds to Single Stage events, Mountune have now concentrated on the clubman market. The Duratec also in 2 litre form has been very successful in tarmac rallying in Ireland with Pat Donegan winning many events outright.
