With just a few weeks to go the stage is set for one of the highlights of the French Rally calendar, the 45th Rally Le Touquet – Pas de Calais. Promoted by T.A.C and based in the heart of the Cote d’Opale, the event will take place over the two days of the 8th and 9th of October and promises to be a cracker. The event once again features as a high profile round of several major championships : · The 2005 French Rally Championship – Round 6 · The 2005 West Euro Cup – Round 7 (Final round) · The 2005 French Historic Rally Championship (Only cars holders of a FIA HVIF). The 2005 rally will consist of 236.70 competitive kilometers of tarmac stage split in 16 S.S circling the centralised servicing and Rally HQ in Le Touquet Regional Airport on both days. Teams will be permitted to carry out a full recce of the route on Saturday 1st October/Sunday 2nd October or on Thursday 6th October/Friday 7th October. Scrutineering and documentation will take place from 2.00 pm until 7.00 pm on friday 7th October in Le Touquet before a Ceremonial Start due from 6.00 to 9.00 pm. First car will be flagged off from the start-ramp at 9.00 am on Saturday 8th October for the first 10 special stages. The remaining 6 stages follow on Sunday morning and the winners should be spraying the champagne at around 3.00 pm to enable a return home on Sunday evening. The proximity (1 hour drive) of the Dover-Calais ferries crossing line and Eurotunnel makes the rally easily accessible for those travelling from UK. In addition, attractive packages are under development for foreign competitors interested in taking part in the event.
