Japanese Driver at Superdrive

International Reputation Draws Japanese Rally Driver to Superdrive
Superdrive Motorsports Centre in Portadown had an interesting visitor last week. Female Japanese rally driver Takako Nakano spent two days at the facility under the guidance of Mitsubishi Ralliart Evolution Challenge winner Brendan Crealey.

“Nacky chose us as a European Rally School to give her coaching for her attempt on three rounds of next years WRC” Says Brendan.

“She is a very competitive girl who has been rallying for 10 years in Japan. We gave her intensive tuition in rear wheel drive and four wheel drive rally cars as well as a morning on making pace notes.

Superdrive are trying to find Nacky a female British Co-Driver for three rounds of next year’s WRC Japan, Corsica and Catalunya.

Nacky is also a journalist for several motoring and rally magazines in Japan. She recently covered the Rally Catalunya before travelling to Northern Ireland for training at Superdrive.

Nacky was a welcome visitor and was very popular with people taking part in other rally courses during the two days. On several occasions Nacky was applauded by spectators who were impressed with her exciting driving performance.

One of Superdrive’s instructors and former Northern Ireland Champion, Mervyn ‘Swervy Mervy’ Hill said,

‘I was very impressed with her technical ability and left foot braking, her aggressive driving style. Nacky was always driving at ten tenths, a compulsory quality for a good rally driver’.

Superdrive attracts people who take part in both rally driving and karting from all over the world. The facility has had visitors from as far as Australia, New Zealand, Barbados, USA and now Japan. The centre also regularly has visitors from England, Wales and Scotland who make the journey to Northern Ireland for the purpose of visiting the centre.

Superdrive Motorsports Centre is the first purpose built centre of its kind and provides the opportunity to participate in several exciting forms of motorsport - all at one central location.

Situated close to the M1 motorway near Portadown, Superdrive is easily accessed from all major routes, within easy reach of the main North-South railway line, only 35 minutes from Belfast and 45 minutes from the International Airport.

Superdrive caters for all ages with karting starting at 8 years old and rally driving from the age of 17. There is no upper age limit - provided you have the energy, Superdrive has the facilities!
