Eoghan Fogarty from Roscrea, Co. Tipperary has won the fourth round of the 2003 Ford Rallysport KA Championship at the Cork Forestry Rally based in Mallow, Co. Cork.

Eoghan in the Spencer and Spillane Ford KA drove a textbook rally leading from start to finish to record his first victory of the season. After failing to finish the last two rounds of the series, Eoghan had to win in Cork in order to keep his championship hopes alive. Eoghan recorded fastest time on the opening three stages of day one to lead by 23 seconds after the first service of the day. Eoghan?s nearest challenger Gordon Coleman (Mallow) put his local knowledge to good use and started to reel in Eoghan, as Gordon set fastest times on the remaining three stages of day one. Eoghan held the lead at the overnight stop by 7 seconds from Coleman.

Stage seven, the first stage of day two saw Eoghan give away a further three seconds to Coleman, however Eoghan battled on the set fastest Ka stage time on the remaining stages of day two and to win his first event by an extremely close margin of only six seconds.

Kenneth Mulvaney (Sligo) endured a difficult weekend that saw the rapid Sligoman damage his suspension to finish in a highly creditable third position overall. John Doolan who had shared the lead with Fogarty initially finished fourth despite total brake failure earlier on during the event. Newcomer Kieran Daly from Charleville, Co. Cork despite a baptism of fire finished in a fine fifth position.
