Feeling more confident with the Peugeot 206 Super 1600, works driver Garry Jennings finished the second round of the Pirelli British Rally Championship in 4th position bringing home points for the works team.
Jennings Enjoys Leg One The second round of the Pirelli British Rally Championship took crews to the classic forest stages of South West Scotland today. Team Peugeot TOTAL works driver Garry Jennings proved the reliability of the Peugeot 206 as he brought his Super 1600 car back to final service with no real problems. Tyre wear was always going to be a problem on the dry and abrasive stages. Early on in the day Jennings suffered a suspected puncture so was a little over cautious to the end of Stage 1 resulting in some lost time, ending 38 seconds behind the class leader, Gwyndaf Evans. On stage 3 the pair put in a bit of a charge being faster and attacked a bit more, resulting in them moving up the field. On stage 4, Jennings was starting to suffer quite badly with his hay fever, the glorious sunny dry conditions not helping to quash the pollen. Undeterred the pair charged on, completing stages five and six with two burst back dampers. It was very bouncy in the car commented co-driver Gordon Noble. Amazingly the Irishmen went on to set 2nd fastest time on stage six. Jennings commented, We are getting more used to our notes and the car all the time. Leg two commences tomorrow near Kirkcudbright in the Galloway Forest Park (07.08am). The pair aim to stick to this afternoons pace and finish in the top three, but their biggest priority is to bring the car home commented Peugeot Motorsport Manager, Mick Linford.
