The arrangement put together by Lloyd and former works co-driver Fred Gallagher resembles the Slipstream Motor Sport scheme that has put Neil Wearden in a 206 World Rally Car. The intention is that McShea provides a return on the investment as his career develops. “Without the support of John and Minilite Wheels my season would be over,” McShea said. “The stark truth in motor sport is that talent alone will never be enough and, through this innovative deal, I am a step closer to securing my dream of winning world championship rallies for one of the major car manufacturers.” McShea has had a turbulent season since winning the £50,000 Roger Clark Award. He started in an RED-tuned Puma, but is now switching to a Saxo – the car in which he made his name – run by Belgian Willy Lux. He didn’t finish either of the first two rounds of the junior series in the Puma.
