Round 1 - '00/'01 KBB National Forestry Championship

A delighted Dermot Kelly arrived at the finish control "I am delighted with my unexpected win, I felt sorry for Hugh going off in the last stage". Hugh Dunne and Greg Shinnors in their McKinstry hired Suburu Impreza, had a 22 sec lead going into the last stage but went off. Kelly wins on a tie break from Kevin Okane by being faster on the last stage taking 9 secs off Okane's time

Glen Allen takes a well deserved 3rd place in his second time out in Kevin O Kanes former car. Peter McCullagh admitted that 4th was best he could have expected at the pace the leading cars were going at. Dominic Mc Neill / Francis Reagan had a troublesome first loop of stages when their car would not Rev above 4,000 Revs and had no turbo on the final stage found themselves in an unexpected 6th place over all. Car no 25 John Reid was the highest placed two wheel drive car at the finish. Eugene Donnelly / Paul Nagle had been the highest placed two wheel drive car, but they retired on special stage 4 with mechanical problems.

In the classes Peter McCullagh / Shane O Neill (Escort Cos) wins class 5. Class 4 was won by Michael Tynan / Colin Brady (Astra). Class 3 was won by John Reid / Brendan Greene (Escort). Class 2 was won by Darrell Dagge / Graham Dagge (Escort), and Class 1 was won by Pat Quinlan / Joe Doolan (Ford Ka).
