Making his debut in the series in a one off drive, the 27 year old Dublin star battled for the lead with England's Simon Maugher until a spin on Stage 3 ruined any chance of a win. Max recovered to finish just 2 seconds behind the Englishman who took his third win of the season to clinch the inaugural title in the Ford Racing backed one make championship. Third went to Round 2 winner Ben Briant. Driving for the Protec Racing outfit, Max's pace immediately impressed the team which is headed by former leading Irish rally driver Liam O'Callaghan. Delighted with the handling of the 1400cc Puma Max found the car very much to his liking. 'The car is amazing its handles so well with more time in the car we could definitely go quicker', commented the current Irish F2 Tarmac Championship leader. Max and co-driver Tim McQuaid will have their next outing in two weeks time when they compete in the two day Dublin based Rally of Ireland. Official 2000 Sponsors
