Carrick-on-Suir Night Navigation Trial - 20-21 Nov '99Posted: November 21, 1999 4:07 PM - 7340 Hits
On a bitterly cold and frosty night Carrick on Suir MC made it's Irish Championship debut. It was to be a night of firsts as Mervyn Dunn / Vincent Fagan (Micra) on their first night together stole a narrow victory from reigning Irish Champions "Bones" O'Connor / Paul Phelan (Corolla). Vincent was making yet another comeback from retirement. Also returning to the fray after a long absence was Rory Dooley. Posted: November 21, 1999 4:07 PM
Navigators were kept extremely busy having to deal with Plot and Bash, Speed Regulation and Herringbone Tulips to name but a few! The not often seen Speed Regulation caused problems for Experts and Novices alike. Crews were full of praise for the organising team Joe O'Brien and John Carroll who showed ingenuity in the 115 mile route. There were 23 entries and 19 finishers. In the Drivers Championship Mervyn Dunn leads on 30 pts from Gerard O'Connell 21 pts and Pakie Duffy 19. The Navigators side has a familiar ring to it with Paul Phelan leading on 29 pts from Adrian Deasy 21pts and Harry Bleakley 19pts.
