Nolan was one of the most naturally gifted drivers to grace the National and Tarmac Championship in recent times. In fact one of the last events he took part in was the Galway International Rally. With his co-driver Michael Lyster, he had a remarkable top five finish in that event two months ago.

He was at his best in the early 1990’s, driving the famous green Sierra Cosworth. Some of his best achievements were in the Cork 20 in ’92 he finished third overall. Denied a second place because of a puncture and beaten by the likes of Bertie Fisher ans Austin MaHale. The same year the dynamic combination of Enda and Lyster came fourth in the Killarney Rally of the Lakes. His only outright National rally win was in Monaghan in ’93 with Dermot O’Gorman on the pace-notes.

Everyone involved in Carlow Car Club wishes to sympathise with the Nolan family on their recent loss. May he rest in Peace.
