Motorsport Training offers Superb Reward
On Sunday 29th April, at Loughry College, Cookstown, you will have a unique opportunity to learn new and beneficial skills. The venue will play host to a major training event, which will give you a chance to practice some of the skills you hope to never have to use. The event will provide training on how to deal with accidents and fires. Although these incidents will be set up for motorsport scenarios, they will give the basic skills that we all should have.

And as an extra incentive to come along, there will be a superb opportunity for someone who attends to actually drive a rally car. There will be a draw, and some of the luck people attending will get an expenses paid day driving at Superdrive Rally School.

Plunkett Boyle from the Motorsport Marshalling Partnership said, “With thanks to Omagh College, and backing from 2 and 4 Wheel, we are able to offer a free day’s training, including lunch, to both motorsport enthusiasts and the general public. We will give you a chance to practice dealing with incidents, and even give you an opportunity to safely put out a major fire using extinguishers. We will have information on running motorsport events – and this will be an easy way to find out how you can join in and help at events.”

As well as practical experience on fire fighting and accident managements there will be information on radio communications and advice on how to become a motorsport marshal. There will also be a number of rally cars on display.

Details:

Recruitment and Training day for the Motorsport Marshalling Partnership
A recruitment and the training day for the Motorsport Marshalling Partnership will be held at Loughry College in Cookstown on Sunday 29th April from 9.30am - 4pm.

There will be 3 MSA Trainer attending to provide the training. The morning will consist of fire management techniques using a fire simulator, incident training from video clips and procedures in dealing with an incident, Communication techniques such as flags, hand signals, radio etc. and stage set-up.

In the afternoon, there will be a 1mile long stage through the grounds of Loughry College where I hope to have between 10-15 rally crews present to draw the crowds and partake in the training. Dummy incidents will occur during the stage e.g. drivers going through junction boxes, spinning of the stage etc where marshals will have to take the appropriate action and in the finale an incident will occur, involving rescue crew, stage commander, paramedics and trouble some spectators etc. More information
