Points after Final Round on the championship webiste: 29/01/07 Fiesta SportingTrophy launches Irish series - Fiesta SportingTrophy IE Following on from the success of the inaugural Ford Fiesta SportingTrophy in the UK in 2006, M-Sport are pleased to announce the launch of a parallel series in Ireland starting with the Galway Rally on Sunday 4th February 2007. Working to the same blueprint of rules and regulations as the UK series, FST IE will feature seven rounds, five of which will take place on the TROA Irish Tarmac Championship – Galway, the Circuit of Ireland, Killarney, Donegal and the Cork ‘20’. Crews will be integrated into the running order based on previous performance and this will give them the opportunity to gain experience of the TROA series without the associated costs. In order to achieve a balance, there will be two events on gravel, the Cork two-day Forestry rally in August and the Enniskillen based Lakeland Stages in September. Crews will compete for prize-money on each round of the series. The top eight will collect a share of the €2,900 EUR prize fund per round with the winning crew taking away €750 EUR. At the end of the season the overall champion will receive a new Ford Fiesta ST road car and a guaranteed place in the ‘FST Shoot-Out’ which will take place at M-Sport in December. The runner-up, plus one ‘wildcard’, will also be invited to compete in the ‘shoot-out’ against 30 other drivers from around the world to win a 12-month contract with M-Sport, working with the WRC team. Our ‘wildcard’ will be someone who the championship organisers feel put in a good performance over the course of the year but didn’t achieve the result they deserved.
