Kings & Queens of Autocross Event in Kilrooskey, Co Roscommon. Midland Motor Club ran a successful Autocross event over the week-end in Rattigans field, Kilrooskey. The action started on Saturday Morning with entries coming from both local and nationwide. This event was round of the National Autocross championship and is the first of two such events being run by Midland MC this year. There were 46 entries on Saturday and the course was set out by Gerry Kelly and officials the evening before. Mike O’Connor from Limerick won the overall event on Saturday driving a Honda Special. On Sunday another big entry saw 57 cars compete in good conditions with the track drying out considerably. Overall winner went to John Kavanagh from Cloughjordan driving a Honda Blackbird with fastest saloon on the day going to Ger Brennan in his rear wheel drive Fiesta. Ladies award went again to Dorothy Cavanagh with Niamh Driver second and Fiona Cullen third. Novice award went to Peter Hollingworth in a Special. Midland MC club awards went Seanie Kelly, Ivor Trimble and Vincent Collins. At the end of the evening the last awards were made to the Kings & Queens of Aoutocross. This was a fund raising event in aid of the Irish Autocross Rescue Equipment fund and Donie Lucy spoke of the need for the equipment to be purchased following a serious accident some time ago. He thanked the Club and its officials for holding the event and presented the awards to various class winners. These awards were based on the overall results over the weekend. The King of the Specials went to Mike O ‘Connor, Queen of the Autocross went to Dorothy Cavanagh with the Saloon award going to Ger Brennan and Junior award to Owen Kelly. PRE EVENT NEWS
The event will be held at a excellent field beside Rattigans Bar, Kilrooskey (Off Roscommon Lanesboro Road N63). The venue will be signposted from Roscommon Town.
