Report from www.motorsportireland.com
Pat Higgins and Ciaran Coyle blitzed the opposition in Saturday night’s Cavan penultimate round of the Squealing Pig Border Navigation Trial Championship based on Madabawn, near Cootehill. Their Lancer stayed clean all the way, while nearest rivals Trevor Farrell and Noel Hall dropped five marks through the two regularity sections and 30 time points and controls.

Arthur Kierans and Conor Maguire got the better of Derek Coleman and Lee Annett for third overall on the basis of furthest cleanest, but last season’s national champion driver and his ever improving novice navigator have certainly become a force to be reckoned with for overall placings this season. Recently crowned National champions Andy Mackarel and Liam Higgins were fifth this time, and look strongly placed to add the Border series to their collection of titles in the final round in a fortnight.
