This year marked the twenty- fifth anniversary of the Lurgan Park Rally, the annual spectacular held by the North Armagh Motorcycle and Car Club. To celebrate the anniversary, Tyndall Productions (makers of the popular RPM Motorsport TV programmes) are putting together a video on this unique event, which is due to be released in November.

The event has witnessed such star names as Ari Vatanen, Pentti Airikkala, Jimmy McRae, Tony Pond who won in Metro 6R4, Mark Lovell, Harri Rovanpera, Patrick Snijers in his Escort WRC, four times winner Gwyndaf Evans, Mikael Sundstrom , Jonny Milner, Mark Higgins, Alister McRae as well as the local heroes such as Bertie Fisher the very first winner, Austin McHale, Frank Meagher, Billy Coleman and of course the ten times winner Kenny McKinstry.

Already we have sourced much of the archive material and conducted interviews with many of the personalities, but we are missing footage for several years. We are appealing to the rally fans out there. If you have any footage of these years your assistance would be appreciated, and we can cope with whatever format it is shot on. The years in question are 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988, with 1986 being of particular significance as it’s the year Mikael Sundstrom won the rally in the mighty Group B Peugeot 205 T16.
