Tommy Flanagan finished a fine 2nd in class in last weekends Galway National Rally. Despite a fifteen-year break, Tommy, soon overcame the rustiness he felt was present on the first few stages to settle in nicely posting a string of second fastest class stage times. Keith Flanagan on his first rally was not fazed by the various demands on him and delivered an excellent performance to net the result.

Tommy became something of a novelty during Saturday as Clare FM spent the afternoon trying to contact him on his mobile for a live interview. This finally took place just as he was about to set off on the second last stage of the day. Tommy was delighted for his sponsors to get the airtime if a little surprised by the attention. “It is great that Clare FM wanted to talk to me as a result of my results on the Clare Stages in the past, I am delighted to get back rallying again. Maybe we will do the Clare Stages this year also if everything falls into place…”

Cork Based Inis Motorsport, currently more recognisable on the Irish Karting scene enjoyed their return to rallying. With their last two outings, in Ireland, netting a class win and a second, more events in the future seem likely if the right driver comes along.
