Morning conditions were dry, with the presence of the previous nights frost leaving the track slippy in places. However, as the day progressed the frost disappeared as the sun began to shine on the circuit.

Dessie Keenan, the 2003 Billy Coleman Award Winner from Monaghan was taking part in his first event since receiving the prestigious award. Dessie had been offered the opportunity to drive a four-wheel-drive Mitsubishi Evolution VII from Jack Sleator – Sleator Opel, Mullingar.
This was Dessies first outing ever in a four-wheel-drive car and first impressions were positive, commenting “ I’m finding a big difference between this car and my Peugeot 206 both in power and the amount of grip the car gets - I could get used to this!”

Not only was Dessie gaining experience within the 4WD Evo VII he was also pleasantly surprised when he found himself on the pace of the group N competitors. He finished a fantastic 6th overall and third in Group N behind Andrew Nesbitt.
