Pirelli Rally 25th/26th April 2003

Team Peugeot TOTAL will put their 2002 class winning Peugeot 206 to the test at the opening round of the 2003 Pirelli International Rally on Friday and Saturday 25th & 26th April. The Super 1600 field is set to be the largest since the format of the British Rally Championship changed in 2002.

With fierce competition expected on this round Peugeot works driver Garry Jennings commented; “It is a bit daunting but competition is healthy and will make me push on. We have been lucky enough to test and get more experience in Kielder forest before the start of the season so I am confident about this round.”

At a successful test session recently in Wales and shakedown at the Border Counties Rally, Jennings was given the opportunity to run his car in and get a feel for set-up changes made to the suspension and rear dampers.

The Pirelli International Rally has a long and distinguished pedigree stretching back over a quarter of a century to 1974. This year following on from last year’s success, the ‘Rally Show’ will take place in Central Gateshead at the new £46 million Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art on the waterfront.

Along the Quayside this year, amongst other exhibitors, will be local Peugeot dealer Springfield, exhibiting a range of cars including the 206WRC simulator and the chance to win a 206 GTi-180.

The rally starts from Baltic Square by the Millennium Bridge in Gateshead at 17.30 on Friday afternoon with two spectator stages and restarts on Saturday with stages in Kielder forest and central service at Hexham Mart. The rally will finish back in Baltic Square at 17.00 on Saturday 26th.

Garry Jennings and co-driver Gordon Noble will be on-line at www.brcweb.co.uk from 8pm on Tuesday 22nd April, pre Pirelli to answer questions
