IRISH RALLY TEAM TACKLE 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS

2002 was an outstanding year for Ireland's young rally star Shaun Gallagher. He finished 2nd in the Peugeot 206 Super Cup, won the Motorsport Ireland Billy Coleman Award and was presented with no less than five top awards by Peugeot Sport. 2003 is shaping up to be even better for this young driver. The Irish team will compete in no less than three top championships, the French Peugeot 206 Cup (Volant 206), the British Peugeot 206 Super Cup and the Norwegian National Championship.

The French 206 Cup is one of Europe\'s best championships for young drivers. Shaun will compete in 10 rounds throughout France, each three days long. The overall winner will receive the ultimate of prizes, a S1600 works drive with Peugeot in the 2004 French Championship.

The Irish team will also compete in the prestigious British Peugeot 206 Super Cup. This championship will take the crews from the famous forests of Kielder to the tarmac roads of Northern Ireland. The championship\'s top prize is a works drive on the 2003 Rally of Great Britain, the result of which may lead to further drive\'s with Peugeot Sport in the future.

The 3rd championship to be contested in 2003 is the Norwegian National Championship. Shaun has already competed in three rounds of this as part of his eight week programme in Norway, where not only did he compete in three rallies but also worked in the famous John Haugland Winter Rally School while abroad. Following three rounds of the championship, which were all run on snow and ice, Shaun is currently leading his class and is the top two wheel drive car. The championship takes a break until June when it will return with three more gravel events.

Success seems to follow this outstanding young driver and he is currently the overall leader of the FIA sanctioned West Euro Cup after the first round in Norway but time restrictions will make it very difficult to continue his assault on this championship.

Shaun and the Mullen Express Transport and Pearse Road Tyres backed team have acquired two left-hand drive Peugeot 206\'s to compete in during the year. With over 20 rallies in just nine months 2003 will be packed full of action and hopefully full of more outstanding achievements.
