Dublin duo aim for World Cup Rally success

Martin Taylor and Peter Gallagher will be aiming for a repeat Irish success on the 2002 World Cup Rally next month when they compete in the London to Athens event. Starting from Blenheim Palace in Britain on October 5th, the Dublin duo will tackle the 4,300 kilometre marathon rally which will take them across 12 countries in 12 days to the Greek finish on October 16th.

Taylor (45 from Clonskeagh) and Gallagher (44 from Mount Merrion) will contest the event in a Proton Satria 1300 which has been special prepared for the gruelling event in Wales by Harry Hockly Motorsport. Having both cut their teeth in Night Navigation events and competed successfully in home international rallies the 2002 World Cup Rally is the toughest challenge to-date for the pair who have also finished the 24 hour Citroen 2CV race at Mondello Park.

Facing opposition from over 50 international entries the sole Irish crew will pass through England, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yugoslavia, Albania and Greece in their quest to repeat the success of Tipperary's Donie Keating on last year's rally.

Daily updates on the Dublin Crystal backed crew will be available on the World Cup Rally's official site
