Posted: August 6, 2002 10:36 AM The second run saw the track in pristine condition after some remedial work by club members and with the rain stopping, the second run saw some great battles throughout the field, the best of which was in Class 2 1600CC 2 wheel drive vehicles, with NEMC Club member James Cassidy from Kells in his new Renault Megane Coupe and 16 year old Naas Native Mark Kinirons in his first ever competitive event in a Corsa, the battle at the top was developing but after some penalties Dan O Donohue in his metro 6R4 lost any realistic chance of overall honours. The third run with clear blue skies overhead saw Moffet maintain his lead, but Ollie Mc Cormack in his Nova making a late surge to take second place with third going to James Foley in his Lancer Evo VI.Drive of the day was mark Kinirons in the nova, just pipped by james Cassidy for class 2 honours in his forst ever competive event, at the age of 16 this young man has a bright future in front of him. Overall winner: Robert Moffett (Escort-Metro) 4m 26.9s. Class 1: 1 David Devereaut (Fiesta) 4m 49.2s, 2 Andrew Lang (Fiesta) 4m 59.1s, 3 Tony Martin (Uno) 5m 13.1s. Class 2: 1 James Cassidy (Megane) 4m 40.3s, 2 Mark Kinirons (Corsa) 4m 41.8s, 3 Paul Burns (Fiesta) 4m 49s. Class 3: 1 Ollie McCormack (Nova) 4m 27s, 2 Mick Nolan (Civic) 4m 34.3s, 3 Jim McKenna (Starlet) 4m 38s. Class 4: 1 Gareth McCullough (Escort) 4m 34.5s, 2 Arthur Kierans (Escort) 4m 56.2s. Class 5: 1 James Foley (Lancer Evo 6) 4m 27.4s, 2 Cyril McCullough (Peugeot 205) 4m 28.1s, 3 Donal Bowens (Lancer Evo 6) 4m 34s.
