2002 BIO-CLEAR Lark in the Park - (Sat) 20 Jul 02Posted: July 24, 2002 7:46 AM - 7741 Hits
Denis Biggerstaff and his Metro 6R4 did the double in Derry to-day, and won both the main 5 stage Lark in the Park and the Super Shoot out after the main event. In an thrilling nail biter of a rally, the top 6 drivers swapped times all day, with fractions of a second separating more than 4 of the contenders throughout the whole day.Posted: July 24, 2002 7:46 AM Sponsor and past winner, Eugene Donnelly, pushed Biggerstaff to the wire, with just 0.4 of a second separating the drivers at the end. A relieved Biggerstaff said at the end, that he never drove the Metro as hard as to-day, inside the tight turns of the Park.... I had to keep it tidy..... and it really paid off." The Maiden City Club had a double celebration for Biggerstaff, with the cheque for £500 going to the Dromara driver, in a very close finish in the shoot out. Donnelly nearly did the Time trail, when he got to within a fraction of a second, but slipped away after some 'cold' tire choice' prevented the Celica getting maximum grip. Donnelly only got the Celica sorted after a mad engine dash from Germany, to ensure the car ran in the Park to-day, following the sump and oil failure on the Sligo event last week-end. Winner of the Historic class was Magherafelt driver John Keatley and wife Caroline, from previous local winner crew Norman Kerr and George Carlin.Overall Results Pos No. Driver/Navigator Total 1 3 Dennis Biggerstaff 06:59.1 Damien McCann 2 2 Eugene Donnelly 06:59.5 Paul Kealy 3 4 Ivan Stewart 07:06.1 Marie Lynch 4 1 Richard Hogg 07:08.2 Mark Hanna 5 6 Terence McLaughlin 07:14.3 Sean McLaughlin 6 9 Andrew Stewart 07:14.9 Fibian McShane 7 16 Sean Devine 07:25.9 Gemma Ward 8 26 Thomas Keys 07:29.2 Kelvin Keys 9 21 Eugene Ferry 07:29.4 John Gallagher 10 28 Robert Reilly 07:31.1 Robert Reilly Jnr 11 10 Jim Crozier 07:32.4 TBA 12 7 Sean Cassidy 07:36.6 Martina Doyle 13 27 Ronan Curley 07:37.6 John McKinley 14 102 John Keatley 07:37.9 Caroline Keatley 15 46 Drew Hunter 07:38.0 Peter McCarry 16 23 Conner McMeel 07:42.3 Sean Devlin 17 5 Charlie Donnelly 07:44.2 John Conway 18 101 Norman Kerr 07:45.2 George Carlin 19 30 Dermot McCauley 07:45.5 Paul Doherty 20 32 Paul Reid 07:46.4 Ollie Harvey 21 37 Ernest Stewart 07:47.3 Gerard Callaghan 22 38 David Graham 07:49.2 Neil Murray 23 12 David McGlaughlin 07:49.3 Kieran Quigg 24 19 Paul Britton 07:49.6 Graham Henderson 25 47 P J Bonner 07:51.0 Eamon Magee 26 20 Greg McCormick 07:51.8 Brian McKenna 27 24 Paul Ward 07:52.5 TBA 28 18 Brenden Conner 07:53.7 Connor Mclaughlin 29 31 Brian Devine 07:54.7 Karl Reid 30 14 Jon McIvor 07:56.3 Barry McIvor 31 41 Neil Duffy 07:58.9 Oran McLaughlin 32 103 Mervin Johnstone 08:02.3 R Highland 33 104 Micheal Carlin 08:02.4 Martina McNicholl 34 34 Fred Henry 08:03.3 Alan Redstone 35 40 John Dolan 08:03.4 Joe Doan 36 25 Barry McKenna 08:04.2 Bridget Averall 37 44 Gary Madden 08:04.3 TBA 38 45 Adrian Pollock 08:05.0 Jenny McCauley 39 29 Paul McKenna 08:09.9 Pat O Donnell 40 36 Andrew Hegarty 08:11.8 Paul Hegarty 41 39 John McGlaughlin 08:15.9 R McGoldrick 42 17 Raymond McLaughlin 08:16.0 Gareth McLaughlin 48 35 Daniel Conaghan Liam McLaughlin 43 43 Patrica Laverty 08:32.8 Martine Laverty 44 105 Eddie Devine 08:41.5 Sean Smith 45 42 Kieran Doherty 09:02.2 Johanna Tinney 46 15 Martin Howley 10:54.4 Kenny Bustard 47 11 Gavin Harris 11:04.0 Sean Lafferty 49 33 Christopher Boyce 04:33.2 Pascal Dillon Class 1 Pos No. Driver/Navigator Total 1 38 David Graham 07:49.2 Neil Murray 2 41 Neil Duffy 07:58.9 Oran McLaughlin 3 34 Fred Henry 08:03.3 Alan Redstone 4 45 Adrian Pollock 08:05.0 Jenny McCauley 5 39 John McGlaughlin 08:15.9 R McGoldrick 6 42 Kieran Doherty 09:02.2 Johanna Tinney Class 2 Pos No. Driver/Navigator Total 1 9 Andrew Stewart 07:14.9 Fibian McShane 2 16 Sean Devine 07:25.9 Gemma Ward 3 28 Robert Reilly 07:31.1 Robert Reilly Jnr 4 19 Paul Britton 07:49.6 Graham Henderson 5 18 Brenden Conner 07:53.7 Connor Mclaughlin 6 17 Raymond McLaughlin 08:16.0 Gareth McLaughlin 7 11 Gavin Harris 11:04.0 Sean Lafferty Class 3 Pos No. Driver/Navigator Total 1 36 Andrew Hegarty 08:11.8 Paul Hegarty 2 43 Patrica Laverty 08:32.8 Martine Laverty 3 35 Daniel Conaghan 06:07.6 Liam McLaughlin Class 4 Pos No. Driver/Navigator Total 1 30 Dermot McCauley 07:45.5 Paul Doherty 2 32 Paul Reid 07:46.4 Ollie Harvey 3 31 Brian Devine 07:54.7 Karl Reid 4 44 Gary Madden 08:04.3 TBA Class 5 Pos No. Driver/Navigato Total 1 26 Thomas Keys 07:29.2 TBA 2 21 Eugene Ferry 07:29.4 John Gallagher 3 27 Ronan Curley 07:37.6 John McKinley 4 46 Drew Hunter 07:38.0 Peter McCarry 5 23 Conner McMeel 07:42.3 Sean Devlin 6 37 Ernest Stewart 07:47.3 Gerard Callaghan 7 47 P J Bonner 07:51.0 Eamon Magee 8 20 Greg McCormick 07:51.8 Brian McKenna 9 24 Paul Ward 07:52.5 TBA 10 40 John Dolan 08:03.4 Joe Doan 11 25 Barry McKenna 08:04.2 Bridget Averall 12 33 Christopher Boyce 04:33.2 Pascal Dillon Class 6 Pos No. Driver/Navigato Total 1 3 Dennis Biggerstaff 06:59.1 Damien McCann 2 2 Eugene Donnelly 06:59.5 Paul Kealy 3 4 Ivan Stewart 07:06.1 Marie Lynch 4 1 Richard Hogg 07:08.2 Mark Hanna 5 6 Terence McLaughlin 07:14.3 Sean McLaughlin 6 10 Jim Crozier 07:32.4 TBA 7 7 Sean Cassidy 07:36.6 Martina Doyle 8 5 Charlie Donnelly 07:44.2 John Conway 9 12 David McGlaughlin 07:49.3 Kieran Quigg 10 14 Jon McIvor 07:56.3 Barry McIvor 11 29 Paul McKenna 08:09.9 Pat O Donnell 12 15 Martin Howley 10:54.4 Kenny Bustard Class 7 Pos No. Driver/Navigato Total 1 102 John Keatley 07:37.9 Caroline Keatley 2 101 Norman Kerr 07:45.2 George Carlin 3 103 Mervin Johnstone 08:02.3 R Highland 4 104 Micheal Carlin 08:02.4 Martina McNicholl 5 105 Eddie Devine 08:41.5 Sean Smith
