The fourth round of the Pirelli British Rally Championship kicks off next weekend. North of the border again, the Jim Clark Memorial Rally takes the series to Edinburgh and the hills around Duns and Berwick. This rally will provide some of the most testing stages so far this season for official works drivers, Rory Galligan and Justin Dale in their Super 1600 Peugeot 206’s.

Justin Dale from Long Parish in Hampshire will be second of the International field on Friday 12th July to leave the line at 13:01 followed closely by team-mate, Irishman Rory Galligan, at 13.02.

Recent testing at Nuneaton’s MIRA proving ground and Transfynedd in mid Wales has allowed Irishman Rory Galligan more time in the car. With an all-new front suspension as well as an all-new rear suspension set-up, Galligan is optimistic about the car’s performance on tarmac.

“It felt really good in recent testing,” commented Galligan. “I have quite a lot of tarmac experience though so I feel comfortable with the car at the moment. We put in some cracking times last time we were in Scotland so we want to capitalise on this. I do not want to remember the time Martin Sansom beat me in the Super 106 Cup. I had led the Jim Clark rally practically to the finish when Sansom crept in on the last stage and beat me!”

Dale, due to a cracked rib from his crash at the last round of the Pirelli British Rally Championship in Scotland has been unable to take advantage of the testing in order to allow his rib time to heal for the Jim Clark Rally.

Now healed and determined to put in a good performance, Chilbolton’s Dale commented; “Jim Clark is a brilliant rally. I love the character of the stages. It’s a shame we are not competing through the night this year but I am still looking to a good rally. I hope the car proves good again next weekend as Andrew and I have won this event before. Last year we were leading overnight, ahead of the WRC cars. It would be good to repeat that!”
