Seamless backed SeamusĀ - Not for the want of trying!Posted: June 10, 2002 3:34 PM - 9816 Hits
Posted: June 10, 2002 3:34 PM Omagh man Seamus has achieved considerable success on the Donegal Rally over the years and, as it is once again a round of the Toshiba Tarmac Championship, is looking for a top result on the Letterkenny based event. The men to beat so far this year on the GpN section of the Tarmac series are former GpN British Champion Trevor Cathers and Killarney's Donie O'Sullivan. Seamus, who retired from the first round of the Tarmac this year, the Circuit of Ireland, and then had a couple of problems on the 2nd in Killarney, is determined to make up for lost time in Donegal. "I'm looking forward to it, happy enough that we'll be ready and will have a full day's testing beforehand, so may the best man win and if it's not me, it'll not be for the want of trying" commented civil engineer Seamus. The rally is based in Letterkenny and there are three days of special stages starting at 11.30 on Friday 21st June, with the finish scheduled for 6.30 on the Sunday evening in the Mt. Errigal Hotel. Top seed is current Tarmac Champion Andrew Nesbitt in a Subaru World Rally Car, with Seamus Leonard seeded at 15, Trevor Cathers at 11 and Donie O'Sullivan at 14. Other top GpN runners who could well be in the frame include Donegal man Andrew Stewart and Derry's Seamus Heron.
