Billy Coleman Award Winner Plans New Season

Rory Galligan has been a front runner in Britain's' Peugeot Super 106 Cup for the past two seasons, and had planned to return to the championship in 2001, for which he was favourite to lift the trophy.

These plans have been hampered by the Foot and Mouth epidemic in the UK "With the experience of last year behind me, I was really looking forward to the 2001 championship and had just completed building a new car when the first event, the Rally of Wales was cancelled" said Galligan

Having looked at the various options and with rallying in Ireland also suspended for the immediate future, the team decided to compete in the French Peugeot 106 Cup. He has teamed up with a new co-driver, David Jones from Edgeworthstown.

This will be another new challenge for Galligan given the more specialised rallying that takes place in southern France. Galligan has already proven his ability to deal with new challenges, when he quickly adapted to rallying in the British Forests in 1999, winning against the best of British and Irish rallying talent.

He also hopes to compete in 2 rounds of the World Championship, the Rally of Finland and the Rally of New Zealand. Plans are also advanced to take part in Belgium's 24 hour of IPER Rally, as Rory's main sponsors, Dalco Nitrogen Gas Systems and Respa Beds have business connections in Belgium.
