Here he once again partnered top tarmac exponent Pete Doughty from Nottingham to a superb 3rd place overall.

This “spectator special” was for crews by invitation only, who were grouped into teams for the challenge.

Each team had six crews, and the team in which Doughty & Sturla were in, won! The team also included ITV Formula 1 commentator Tony Jardine.

The crew were using the event as a test session in readiness for competing in their more usual Irish territory. They were pleased with the result having given best to an older car not conforming to modern regulations, and a past master of the venue who has competed and won there many times before.

Doughty’s Escort World Rally Car is now being re-fettled as final preparation for the Tipperary Stonethowers Rally, on the 13th August.

Sturla is supported by Livesey Bros., Packington.
