Cancellation of Drovers 2WD Challenge - 25th November 2018

Posted: November 9, 2018 5:09 PM

"Dear Competitors, Marshals and Rally Enthusiasts,

Once again, we regret to inform you that after over 12 months of hard graft putting this event together, firstly for July and then secondly having to reschedule for November, we are having to cancel the Drovers 2WD Challenge 2018.

There will be NO rescheduling of this event in the future.

This decision has been hard to make but is based on the fact that we have fallen well short of our minimum required entries. The MOD charge us for 50 cars minimum, irrespective of how many entries we have and then charge an add-on for each additional car. In July we were short of the minimum target and now in November we have had even less entries.

I know we are announcing this cancellation early, but there is no way we are going to get the required numbers by the closure date. We recently did some PR work in Pembrey but have had no response at all from that and no entries in the last 2 weeks.

Rallying in general is taking a battering lately with so many events being cancelled for different reasons. To say we are devastated is an understatement after all the work, organisation and expenditure that has been put into this event.

We would like to thank all our sponsors, especially our main sponsor, Mr Ian Caddy of Pontypridd Accident Repair Centre, for their support. Also thanks go out to the competitors that did enter, the MSA Safety Delegates and Stewards, Marshals, Rescue and Recovery teams, the MOD etc.

A big thank you goes to Damian Cole and Bob Gibbons who have also tried to get our event off the ground by sharing our posts relentlessly on Facebook etc.

For those of you that entered and paid, I will be in touch with you individually for your bank details so that we can start the process of refunding you.

We are very sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused."

"Dear Competitors, Marshals and Rally Enthusiasts.

It is with regret that I have to make this announcement today. After 10 months of hard work and long days/nights working on this event, we are genuinely sorry that we are going to have to re-schedule the Drovers 2WD Challenge 2018.

This decision has been difficult for us to make but is based on the fact that we have fallen short of our minimum required entries and a few more have dropped out on the weekend. Even though the Regulations states that the minimum requirement was 40 cars, we would have been losing money on that which we were prepared to accept. That said we have not even reached that number and we are not prepared to lose thousands of pounds after all the hard work we have put in. As this was our inaugural event and we did not expect to make money on this due to the expenditure of stage rally furniture.

We are currently working on a new date for later in the year and will announce that as soon as we find out if it is acceptable.

For those of you that have already paid, I will be in touch with you individually for your bank details so that we can start the process of refunding you.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused and hope that you will give us a chance when the new date is announced.
