As 2009 draws to a close, Kris Meeke has another trophy to add to his 2009 IRC Drivers' title, the prestigious Autosport Rookie of the Year award.

As all the stars of motor sport congregated at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Sunday evening, it was Kris who stole the rallying limelight again as his dominant and masterly debut win in this year's 2009 IRC was recognised. He beat a short-list of up and coming stars - Jaime Alguersuari, Romain Grosjean, Sebastien Buemi, Nico Hulkenberg, Rafael Matos, Sebastien Ogier, Daniel Ricciardo and Alexander Sims - to claim the award, which was handed over by 13-time grand prix winner David Coulthard.

Commenting on his win, Kris said, "It has been a very special year for me. I will never forget that this time last year I had no drive and now I am here as the 2009 IRC Drivers' Champion. It has been a massive year for me, and one that I hope to build on. We've just re-signed with Peugeot and next year will be a massive battle to retain our title."

Kris and his co-driver Paul Nagle have had a sensational 2009 rollercoaster ride this year with a crash and non finish in Monte Carlo, their first IRC win in Brazil, four rally wins and 42 fastest stages and all in their first year in the IRC.

It all starts again in 2010 when Kris and Paul will again be in action in the Peugeot UK 207 S2000, with the first rally in Monte Carlo in January.
